Adventures in the Big Apple, part 1

I have a lot of back blogging to do. If I don't, I think I'll be sad, because I have a lousy memory.

Going to New York from Philadelphia is actually pretty easy and cheap. By car it's 90 miles, if you want to deal with the traffic. I don't. By train, it's inexpensive to drive up to Trenton and take the regional rail into the city. Roundtrip fare is considerably cheaper than the cheapest one-way fare on Amtrak from Philly. So it's worth the little extra effort of getting to Trenton and the 90 min train ride that stops along the way. And parking for a day in Trenton is about $10.

faux summer

Late April in Philadelphia. Typically on a nice day it's mid-70s or so. Cool, but warm. Rains some, sunshine some. Well, the past four or five days it's been basically summer, the last few days hitting highs in the 90s. Really hot. It's totally thrown me for a loop, because it's so out of context. It's felt like normal late April in Louisiana. So I've been hot and crabby. Yesterday C and I were driving around in the car, and I was muttering, "it's so hot. I wish I could go to the beach."

our little trip to NYC

I've been wanting to blog about our fun little weekend in New York for awhile now...we went a week ago from this past weekend. But this past week I got lambasted by the flu. No fun! I'm still not feeling totally well yet, and neither does Marlowe who has this perpetual runny nose whine going. Poor baby. But we slowly rise above the trenches of illness. And before much more time passes, I will still blog about our trip.

my adventures of the day

This morning, I bounced out of bed ready to get going. I had a lot to do. By 10 am, I was showered, b'fasted, dressed, M was b'fasted and dressed. Downstairs was clean, sidewalk salt was purchased and sidewalk and driveway were salt, and I was on the way to visit a friend. We had actually set up our little rendezvous yesterday when I had called. She sort of lives in North Philly and is actually my mom's best friend. Well, I got to her house and no one was home.
